We worked for about a month and a half approaching the final date, collecting work from students and teachers of the Sreenidhi community ranging from drama, dance, music, photography and other visual art forms in order to curate and display in our galleries which we launched through the Sreenidhian, our school’s first digital newspaper. By the date of the exhibition, we were able to gather almost 250 pieces of work from the entirety of the school community.
On the day of the event, we scheduled live performances by a variety of students for the visitors of the exhibition to tune into. Though we had quite a few challenging technical difficulties, which is to be expected with the first time experience of using a completely virtual platform, the live performances were a great success. Also, the platform provided the artists with the ability to discuss their artwork with the visitors, and give them a ‘virtual tour’ of their respective grade galleries.
The coordination and collaboration behind this event was quite a feat to accomplish. There was a team of students who needed to work alongside teachers, our school’s tech department as well as their peers in order to curate the gallery. Yet, thankfully this event was a huge success, we were able to total almost 200 visitors to the gallery, which was a great experience for us. By using this platform, we were able to effectively utilize art as a way to portray our thoughts and express our artistic skills through Inside Out 2020.
This event would have been impossible without the support of Mr. Chris and the talented Art Department of our school. Aside from them, a huge thank you goes out to the curatorial team of the event:
