In a rain-affected game, after posting a sub-par total, the rain came to the rescue for Pakistan, ending the game without a result.
Opting to bowl, Australia found instant success, dismissing Fakhar Zaman in the first over. After just one boundary, Haris Sohail was dismissed in the second over as well. Mohammad Rizwan took on Adam Zampa, an odd bowling choice during the powerplay, in the 4th over. Babar Azam began to find his groove after some streaky boundaries as well.
Rizwan was dismissed in the 11th over. A six from Asif Ali followed, but a break commenced soon after due to rain interruption. The innings was shorted to 15 overs. Soon after the break, Pakistan lost Asif in the 13th over. Imad Wasim was dismissed in the last over, but Babar smacked some boundaries in the end, taking Pakistan to 107-5.
Mitchell Starc and Kane Richardson picked up 2 wickets each, with Richardson being more economical. Ashton Agar picked up 1 wicket as well. Adam Zampa was the only expensive bowler.
With a DLS target of 119 to achieve, Aaron Finch took on the bowlers, scoring 26 runs off Mohammad Irfan in an over. 5 overs needed to be completed for a result, and Australia were already far ahead of the DLS score for 5 overs. However, the rain stopped the game once again at 3.1 overs, and the rest of the 11 balls were never bowled.
With 2 more games to go, it will be interesting to see whether an in-form Australia or the number 1 T20 team in the world (Pakistan) will emerge victorious.
