This time around, however, the IB has made a statement regarding the M21 exams and have listed the changes that will be implemented. For most subjects, these changes manifest themselves as amendments to or removal of assessment components and their weightages (i.e what percentage of the final grade they account for). This will differ from subject to subject due to the differences in their components.
Most importantly, in-session mitigation will be practiced as well. In other words, examiners will be flexible in terms of strategies used during the marking, standardization and grade awarding processes. These mitigations will ensure that any unique circumstances that arise during an examination session will be treated in such a way that students achieve a fair grade.
From this, it is clear that the IB is doing everything they can to provide students with a fair opportunity to write their final examinations. A PDF containing the specific subject changes and the updated exam schedule as of September 2020, have both been provided by the IBO on their official website.
