After almost a year of online schooling, the white walls and lush grass of Sreenidhi International School looked like a scene from another lifetime. However, after the recent governmental order, what once seemed to be a fantasy is about to become a reality.
On January 11th 2021, Telengana’s Chief Minister Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao officially gave the order for school administrators to begin making arrangements to reopen schools across the state for grades 9 and above. With the Chief Minister’s backing, it was officially confirmed: MYP 4 to DP 2 students are coming back to school! Saying that we were overjoyed would be an understatement: staring at a screen for hours trying to comprehend a challenging task really was no fun.
When asked about her outlook on school reopening, Ms. Mounika Murarisetti —the head of the mathematics department— stated that, “after 10 months of online teaching, it felt ecstatic to see students join physical mathematics classes.” She also mentioned that it “really revived the essence of face to face teaching” in her mathematics classes and it gives her “immense joy and happiness being associated with learners.”
Mr. Gnanadurai, the MYP Facilitator and Personal Project Coordinator, had also provided his insightful perspective. He said, “after months of staying indoors and in quarantine, the students are finally back at Sreenidhi. The perfect learning environment that they missed so much, the easy-going interactions with their teacher, and their fun times with fellow peers is back on track! The new environment and the casual camaraderie that they can now happily indulge in has brought back the light and spark in many of them.”
With our teacher’s viewpoints, it is no exaggeration to say that everyone is elated to go back to school! Yet, even though most are quite excited to hug their friends again, it is vital to still follow all COVID-19 protocols when on the school campus. From regularly washing your hands to always wearing masks (don’t forget to cover your noses!), multiple precautions must be taken to lessen the risk of anyone contracting the virus. It is essential for all of us to be responsible for our safety while still having fun! Welcome back to school!
